Clicky! CLICKY! noise.

well every since i got my car. it always made a clicky noise. we fixed the timing and watnot since it wasnt correct and the noise went down. but then recently the noise got really really loud. my friend said its normal for KA's to make the noise and not to worrie about it.

can anyone give me any feedback on wat it might be and wat i can do to make it stop.

thanks.

it is not normal for the ka to make noise... but where does the noise come from and when does it happen... deep click sound or high pitched click sound... does it get louder when the revs go up or does it get quieter... is it comming from the top of the motor or the bottem... a little more information will be needed to help you out...

but things that could go click click are... valve shims need to replaced... some might be to loose and makin noise...

when you say timing do you mean you removed the guides?

if it is comming from the bottem is it a click or a knock??? if the soise comes from the bottem end there is not much that can be done without pulling the motor and doing rod and main bearings on it... that is a big project... if it is comming from the bottem...

hmmm sounds very familiar...my 240 shared the same sound until we fixed the tensioner and chain guide. After that she runs like a sexy beast. I would really consider taking a btter look at that

well i thought my 240 was about to blow up last night. Come to find out the bolt fell out of the alternator tensioner and the noise was the belt. Anyways, I shoved a new bolt in there and tightened the tensioner good and tight now its fixed. I swear, Id have nothing if it wasnt for problems, hehe.

mine clicks from the top, cam area. I am almost positive its shims and whatnot. I just dont have time to fix it, and its still running strong. it doesnt do it during start and warm up, but once its been idling and comes off high idle, it clicks. noise goes away when its revved up.

however, my 91 taurus wagon was clicking down the road one day, and I found it was EXTREMELY low on oil. added 2 quarts and gone was the noise. check that maybe? its a simple but often overlooked thing.
