Common Troubles

The warranty on my 93 240 is coming close to ending and I would like to get it checked out to insure that nothing is going to break shortly after the warranty is up. I was just curious what kind of problems other people have had that I should check out. It has about 80K on the original engine.

Okay here is a huge general list in no perticular order:
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve
Evaporative Emission Control System-charcoal canister and hoses
Battery
Cables + Clamps + Belts + Hoses
Air Conditioning
Windshield Wipers
Tires
Oil + Filter Change
Transmission Fluid
Rear Axle Fluid
Coolent Fluid- Flush
Brake and Clucth Master Cylinder
Power Steering System
Chassis Greasing
Strut Towers
Check for Rust
Rotors + Cailipers
Shocks + Springs
Engine Fuel Timing
Catalyitc Converter
Headlights + Tail-lights + turn signals
injectors
spark plugs
piston rings

That should be a pretty comprehensive list to start off with. If it's under warranty might as well get your money out of it!!

Oh and don't forget headlight fluid and muffler bearing grease.

yup. the headlight fluid is the most important one.

The muffler bearings never realy go out though. You forget, a nissan is not a honda(who's muffler bearing go out anually)

Thanks for the list, but I was more curious about problems people have had with their cars that I should have looked at before the warranty is up. Things like syncros going bad in the transmission or any severe mechanical problems.

I live in Washington and drove 7 hours to a dealership in Oregon to get it because it was the only 5 speed car I could find and to top it off it only had 70K original miles. Since I drove so far they put a 1 year/ 12,000 mile warranty on the car's powertrain.

I'd suggest having it checked by an independent mechanic before bringing it in for any warranty repairs... since your warranty is about to go out, you never know what the dealer might *accidentally overlook.
