Unhappy New Mod Troubles

Okay heres the deal, Im just a Mobile Telecomm Tech, i fix comps and phones so take it easy if i seem like a nut on the auto field

I have a 92 240, its a clean little car odometer says 167k although supposdly there was a engine swap with 90k about 8 months ago. A local out of work mechanic told me he would fix up the ride for cheap i just had to buy the parts.

so this is whats been done, we added a air intake with a pipe that swoops down into the bottom grill for more air, he cut off the muffler and bolted on a euro exhuast we got from autozone lol, new plugs wires , cap, rotor, and fuel filter. He aslo adjusted the timing. Being a mechanic that he is he reved the car like a mother all day. everything was good although on the way home it starts to act like it wants to stall at times and the exhuast shakes and ratteles and bounces all over the back bumber which sounds like ****. Called the guy but he left for work, he came by later that night and the car would start, number 4 in the engine sounded like a piston broke it would rattle then stall. we thought we blew the engine.

tow truck picked it up in the morn and took it to my other mechanics, they said a bolt fell into the engine and they took it out, now the situation is the engine has a problem with the idle, wehn it goes into park or nutreul the rpm inclines but the car runs, any suggestions i would appreciate.

Sounds like a loose vacuum hose on the new intake.

I agree with Js13 also could be the timeing is off since the guy adjusted it, he mite have jacked it all up. did he disconnect the wireing harnesses above the throttle before jacking with the timeing? if not , thats your problem

put the timing back to 15BTC(stock i think)...then see if your problem is still there.

but what i dont get is...if a bolt fell in the engine...how would the engine be still okay? and was a compression test done by your tech? what was the results? and you have a auto right?...check your fluid level.
