connecting rods

connecting rods

what does it mean when some one says they had their stock rods shotpeened suposedly it takes more hp but what is the exact procidure what do they do to them??

shot peening will not make or take horsepower... im makes the rods stronger... what is done is that fine particles of metal shot are fired at the rod stressing the metal and releiving it of surface imperfections... good process if forged rods are not in the budget...

stronger rods mean you can run more boost or higher comp....of course with other factors taken care of as well i.e. new, stronger head gasket etc.
