damn shift ****

this is a very noob question, but ive searched for the answer..couldnt really find it. i was going to install a short shift kit, and i know the first step was getting off the **** so i was trying to see how easy that was. all the threads say...just twist it off, but when i tried to twist, it would bend but not untwist. i know i was turning the right way, any reason for it to not wanna come off?

It is really really hard to get off and I think I broke my wrist in the process, but the way I did it was...(I hope I explain this good enough) I took a towel and layed it over top of the ****. Then I took the dangling part of the towel and twisted it together. I took plyers and grabbed the twisted knotted part of the towel and twisted with that. It took a little bit of muscle but I got that sum***** off

I think when he said he turned the right way he meant that he was turning it the proper way (which is left/counter clockwise), not that he was twisting it to the right

or another idea is this pb buster you can get at your local hardware store its also known as nut buster thats what always usually helps me free up anything im having problems loosening, its kinda like wd40 i guess but they say its better for that sort of thing, or since your gettin a short shifter put in just pull down the shift boot and take a cut off wheel to the shifter and saw it off! only as a last resort though unless you dont have patience like me
