Question differences between 90/91

hey everyone, i was wondering if someone can help me.

i bought my 240sx fastback last week (YEAH!!) and i was told it is a 1990, but something is telling me there is a possibility it is a 1991. is there any obvious differences between these two years that will tell the two apart? like just from looking, can you see any differences?

The front bumper looks more...modern. And the turn signals are round, not rectangleish. The engine is a DOHC instead of a sOHC...Im sure there are more but im sleppy and tired so yea.

You should just be able to check the little metal looking tag inside of the engine bay against the firewall, it should tell you what your engine code is. Or open your door and look at the sticker around the door thing, it tells you when your car was manufactured

front bumpers are different
not really THAT much difference...

S13 in general refers to the '88-'94 chassis. This includes the coupe and the fastback.

'88-'90 S13 Silvia CA18DET
'90-'91 RS13 180SX CA18DET (R for fastback)
'91-'93 PS13 Silvia SR20DET (P for SR)
'91-'98 RPS13 180SX SR20DET (no distinction between the two different minor model change, last minor change was the inclusion of the double round lights and a more squarish front bumper.)
'91-'93 KPS13 Silvia (K for SuperHicas)
'91-'93 KRPS13 180SX
'89-'90 HS13 240SX KA24E (H for KA24E)
'89-'90 RHS13 240SX FB
'91-'94 MS13 240SX (dunno chassis code for convertables)
'91-'93 RMS13 240SX FB(M for KA24DE)
'91-'93 KRMS13 240SX FB w/ SuperHicas
'91-'93 KMS13 240SX w/ SuperHicas (Canadian market only).
'94-'98 S14 Silvia SR20DET
'94-'98 CS14 Silvia w/ SuperHicas
'95-'98 S14 240SX KA24DE (no specific S14 code for KA24DE)

difference

different bumper

cluster has a check engine light on the 91 up
valve covers (one says 12V while the other says 16V I think, also the stock valve cover ont eh SOHC is a black ugly looking thing. The DOHC is is smaller and is silver)

power steering pump/reservoir on opposite sides. The SOHC is on the left side looking at the engine and the DOHC reservoir/pump are on the right side looking at the enigne

I am sure there are more, but the escape me right now

also you can do a free carfax and I blieve in its minimla information given, will tell you that it has reports for XXX car with this vin number.

SOHC and DOHC S13's have different steering rack ratios. Doubt that helps you though.
