Question door locks

I have a very confusing problem i have been trying to fix for days now. My cars indoor locks are power.....sorta. If i push the drivers side down, both sides will lock....but when i pull it up, only the drivers door unlocks. If i push the passenger side down, only that door locks, but if i pull it up, both doors unlock. And if i use the key on the outside, and lock the drivers door, they both lock, and if i unlock the passenger door, they both unlock. WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?! i pulled the panel off, checked for shorts or bad wires or bad connections, i checked for fuses or anything out of the norm......nothing. Is there an internal problem with the locks? I'd like to have all the locks changed (the drivers one is sorta hard to turn and the trunk lock wont move). well, this is longer than i thought, but every time i searched for this problem the same link came up, which just asks the same question i have, but wouldnt answer it....thanks for any help, i want normal locks!

prorican, first lock it from the inside. From the outside hold up the door handle as if opening the door, keep it up and close to the door. once closed you can let go of the handle, the door should be locked. Try that to see if it works

I have the exact same problem. I've gotten used to it. It's only inconvenient because I have to get in the car before I manually unlock the passenger door.

they way to solve this is...when you lock the door from the INSIDE...while shutting the door, you have to hold your door handle in the OPEN position...when the door shuts...the door will remain locked (took me a while to figure that out on my fiance's car)

as for power looks acting up funny...same thing happened to my fiance's 90 240sx SE Hatch. now they work perfectly fine since we replaced the battery
