Dream Come True (one problem though)

I just got a 1991 Nissan 240sx s13. I can't believe it, me?! wow its such an awesome feeling since i have always wanted a tuner car but was never allowed to have a non-domestic car unless i payed for it myself. The car is red and is in great condition for its age, besides one dent.

However, the battery is very weak and when crank will only remain running for but a few seconds. I heard a relay clicking noise coming from the cigarette lighter area right next to the shifter, i was hoping someone could tell me what might be wrong, and what a solution might be, obviously a new battery but what after that?

hmmm...weak battery, and it only runs for a few secs.? sounds like your alternator took a ****...one quick way to tell, after you install the new batt. start the car and disconnect the negative battery cable while it's running (trust it's safe, you won't get zapped) if the car shuts off shortly after, it needs an alternator...

ah...this might need be moved to the technical section?

and welcome

Autozone will test batteries and alternators for free. Does the car run smoothly or buck a little when it runs?

My first thought was actually a massive vacuum leak, like the brake booster vacuum hose came disconnected. Just check it for the hell of it.
