Sucks for you california people and whatnot. 240s are pretty rare where I am which makes mine so much cooler...but I have noticed the ebay thing. Recently theres been like 30 on ebay when there used to be like 15. But then again it might be temporary, some cars on ebay do this.

I guess we'll see, but demand has sure gone up. Up here on the east coast I've only seen 2 other 240's in all of NH so far, which is nice. Too bad one of them is black like mine and it's in bad shape.

as far as parts availability goes..it helps that the car is pretty popular outside of the US and parts interchange rather easily.....so even if it does not get "big" in the US its still big outside of it.....

yeah, but importing parts costs a little more.
but you're right, I like that our car does have status outside the US like that, and there are many paerts available.

Yeah, as a matter of fact....I just bought my 240sx off eBay on the 10th, if anyone wants to check it out, the item number is 2441875488....It's impossible to find the fastback here in the twin cities...so I relied on eBay to do it for me!

anyone else notice?

Whatever it takes to fetch the highest price.

Let's face it, hype creates demand, demand boosts the price, and money is good. If I were to sell my car on ebay, I'd say anything true (i.e. "great SR swap candidate") to lure dumb kids into buying my car for a hefty price. Cuz if I'm not gonna keep my cool car, I sure as hell would want a good compen$ation.

I like those Ebay titles like:

"JDM S14 Silvia springs not Tein or Eibach"

...so when you search for "Tein" you still see their stuff LOL

I remember when I was looking for my car, there wasn't this many 240SX's for sale on Ebay, let alone in CA... I had to go out to Arizona to buy mine for $4100, which was a good deal considering the condition of the interior and motor (both dusty, but almost perfect after I cleaned it).

Oh thought of another one:

"N1 Exhaust like HKS Apexi Greddy JDM"

i can understand how people don't wanna be "conformists" or "bandwagon hoppers", but i can't see the need for such a level of exclusivity (sp?) that it borders on being elitist and snobbish. so what if everybody and their uncle gets a 240? more aftermarket support, more parts cars, and more shells to replace our broken ones. i like being original and all, but that's not why i bought the car. i bought the car because it's a fun, sexy, sporty, lightweight, RWD car w/decent handling (stock). if the whole point is to own a car that not everybody has, then by all means, purchase a McLaren F1, a Delorean, or a Ford Festiva. i would personally love to see people hopping on one of those bandwagons. or, on a more realistic note, there doesn't seem to be many people making a fuss about the Mistu Starion/Dodge Conquest. they sound like they've got some potential (2.6L I4 188hp 234ft-lbs RWD)l. if nothing else, when the "240 underground" goes completely mainstream, maybe those of u w/exclusivity complexes can at least take pride in knowing that u were a pioneer of the movement.

I totally agree, why worry about what other people do with their car. Let ppl destroy their 240. It will only make your car look better. Let them wreck their car, after trying to bust an Initial D.

Besides I doubt anyone can make a 240 match the epitome of riceyness: a civic sedan with touring wing, chopped springs, and hyper blinkers

The only down side i can see to this boom in drifting and 240s is they are more likely to get stolen or get parts stolen from em. Its been happening lately and not good at all...

I have been in the Nissan community for goign on 5 years and there has ALWAYS been this snobbiness about it. Like nah nah nah nah nah we have tourque you dont. Your cars are riced out ours arent. It gets REALLY old. As a community I notice that Nissan owners ***** about being left out, then a Nissan catches on and the peopel ***** about there car becoming the next civic. I wish it would become the next civic. Look at the civic scene/parts availability and look at the 240. No comparison. The civic did nothign in that equation. Civics dont come from the factory all "riced" out, people made them that way. And like I said on a similar thread over at NICo...take a closer look at all the JDM tyte videos you download off Kazaa. Almost Every car we drool over that is doing a mad tyte drift has everythign we consider ricey.....big *** wings, stickers galore, big *** mufflers, body kits, CF hoods (some will argue that body kits and CF hoods are ricey), flames coming out of the tailpipe. To me it is one thing to have a big *** wing on your car and think your car is special. I personally dont favor wings, but if someoen wants to put one on their Civic..let em. NOw if they think their car is a TT Supra because of that wing and a fart can, demolish them and move on with your day. It is that simple. All this exclusitivity (is that even a word...LOL) crap is moot because how many people cant HONESTLY say they didnt get their 240 AFTER it became popular........? I would venture to say at least 60% CANT say that. I got mine when I was looking for a 300zx..I didnt even know what a 240 was. But coming from the Altima world...I HAD to see what the big fuss about RWD was so I got one. Swapped it later because my head gasket blew and sold it later after that. Mostly because the swap was always breaking, but mostly because I honestly didnt think the 240 was worth all the hype. People should be glad their precious car is getting more exposure. Exposure only helps.

So wait, am I original for driving a Festiva? Funny thing, I drive a four door civic right now and then I'm switchin' up to the gray Festiva that smells like somebody farted in. Then... hopefully... someday... I'll get a nice S13 coupe for spring driving.
