I wish it would become the next civic. Look at the civic scene/parts availability and look at the 240. No comparison. The civic did nothign in that equation. Civics dont come from the factory all "riced" out, people made them that way. And like I said on a similar thread over at NICo...take a closer look at all the JDM tyte videos you download off Kazaa. Almost Every car we drool over that is doing a mad tyte drift has everythign we consider ricey.....big *** wings, stickers galore, big *** mufflers, body kits, CF hoods (some will argue that body kits and CF hoods are ricey), flames coming out of the tailpipe. To me it is one thing to have a big *** wing on your car and think your car is special. I personally dont favor wings, but if someoen wants to put one on their Civic..let em. NOw if they think their car is a TT Supra because of that wing and a fart can, demolish them and move on with your day. It is that simple. All this exclusitivity (is that even a word...LOL) crap is moot because how many people cant HONESTLY say they didnt get their 240 AFTER it became popular........? I would venture to say at least 60% CANT say that. I got mine when I was looking for a 300zx..I didnt even know what a 240 was. But coming from the Altima world...I HAD to see what the big fuss about RWD was so I got one. Swapped it later because my head gasket blew and sold it later after that. Mostly because the swap was always breaking, but mostly because I honestly didnt think the 240 was worth all the hype. People should be glad their precious car is getting more exposure. Exposure only helps.

And originally honda's coming from the factory were considered. Ask any older person, lol. My buddies dad always called my s13 a rice burner, just because it's imported, which is where the term came from. Now rice is different, and we've all seen any car that has been riced out, however moreso than not the riced out car you see the most is the civic because there are so damn many of them. And yeah, some more aftermarket support would definately be awesome. I got my car 1 year ago, not even knowing the hype, only knowing my gf had a 90 and I LOVED driving it, so I knew my next car would be a 240.
That is all
Dr.
not all civics are riced out.. there are a small group of people in the civic community that are "jdm" and focus on performace rather than looks. i see that more often nowadays with civics, more people put the money in the motor than the body. we cant generalize cuz most the civics we see are riced.. we have to keep an open mind that there are people that are enthuisist in all types of cars. and also civics arent all about dragging, people auto x and road race with them as well. the problem is people expect civics to be fact and stuff cuz u see so many of them and u see so many people act like they are fast.. the fact is they dont come from the factory as a sports car as they do in japan (type r). they are good overall cars, if not why would they use civics to race in circuits/touges over in japan? its just here in the usa where they get a bad name cuz they are so damn overrated. when too many people have something it starts to kill it for everyone else, then someone has to find something new, then that gets big, and it gets killed too.
where i live there are turbocharged civics that are the fastest in the northwest. 600 whp i believe. i have the video of them somewhere but i cant find it, ill post it up when i do.

to answer the thread first, I noticed that too. And I also noticed the price of 240 has not changed much since 1997 which is the year I fell in love with S13 240 fastback. The price was CAD$5900 for a fully loaded '90 fastback. And look around now after these years, they're like at the same price, generally speaking.
But aftermarket support is always welcome~
Ricey parts on the market doesn't mean my car has to become ricey too. It all depends on my decision anyway, and I'd rather put more money on performance instead of ricey looks. that said, some clean look style are still good things, aren't they?

we have to remember that this 240 craze only makes our cars more valuable since they're getting older and less of them are on the road. just go check the KBB value on your car. i bought my S13 more than a year ago for a great deal of $1000 and now its worth $2780. i think thats a pretty good trade off, especially since the 240 craze hasnt hit where i live, New Jersey, or where i go to school, South Carolina.
Ive seen a huge amount of kids flooding all of the 240 boards saying how they're just going to get the car to do the swap, now they arent true enthusiasts like us, are they? i also see a lot of 16 year old kids grabbing copies of super street and all the other rice magazines and thinking how cool they're gonne be once they have a 600hp JDM TyTE MoTor.
but for me, i know once my KA blows im either going to swap in a brand new KA and turbo it or do the SR swap. but a lot of these ricers and ex-honda kids are just going to use mommy and daddy's money to get a 240, do a swap and then once they're bored with it, they'll just sell it.
so what should we do in the meantime? we should just enjoy our cars for the reasons we bought them and ignore all the bandwagon madness, and ENJOY our cars. we should also be glad there's an influx of new products and aftermarket for the 240 since it helps us die-hard nissan guys make our cars that much better
moral of the story? ignore the ricer bullcrap, because if you let that get to you, then i guess you arent really as passionate about your car as you should be.

So wait, am I original for driving a Festiva? Funny thing, I drive a four door civic right now and then I'm switchin' up to the gray Festiva that smells like somebody farted in. Then... hopefully... someday... I'll get a nice S13 coupe for spring driving.

I am selling a coupe with synchromesh problems (they are livable I have been drifting the car for going on 5 months now) with an extra tranny. I just haven't swapped them because I am busy. I might just do it and keep both cars.
The windshield wiper stalk needs to be changed because the contacts are fugged. Got that in my office.
The roof leaks without the duct tape that is up there. That could be a problem but it is an easy fix for a weekend warrior car.
There is no interior. WELL HELLO it is a track/street car that is going for full track.
I love people that say they want a track car but want a system in the car when they have me look. It is insane. I want a super drift car but I want carpet and it has to have a SR20det. I will not buy a running KA24DE but I will spend good money on a car with a blown motor. hahahahhaaha Towing it to the shop to install the SR covers the difference in a working car, unless you do the install yourself at home.
I have a bug up my *** to fix the car and ship it to the west coast so I can drift it in events out there instead of borrowing cars all the time.

ohhh, ok. i mean, i figured since u put the dough, wrench time, and everything into that car u'd just as soon keep it (considering that u own it outright, too). and having it as a "west coast special" sounds like a pretty good idea, too.

EK was stolen twice this year and is now gone.
I have a full GSR suspension in my locker. Rear arms, coilovers, ITR Swaybars, LCAs to bolt the sway to, damperforks to fit to the coilovers, rear drum to rotor swap, bmc, and a set of integra rims.
ALL rotting waiting for me to get a theft recovery civic to swap a GSR block into to have some FWD fun again.
I think I might sell it all and get a Sentra and do a Sunny swap with suspension.
With a clutch type LSD and dump the SE-R vlsd. I think that would be funner.
