Engine overheating

ahh thanks. nice car by the way motegineon.

I got 1 more question:

Is a thermostat required?

To my understanding.. the thermostat is closed and when the coolant/antifreeze reaches a certain temperature, the thermostat will open and let the coolant flow through the engine.

If I don't have a thermostat, won't the coolant always be flowing and cooling down the engine?

yes, that is correct. in cold weather, you dont want the coolant flowing from the moment you start the engine. When I had no thermostat, it took forever to warm up, and never warmed up completely.
