I think I have air pockets in my radiator. When i drive my car, the temp usually stays at the normal operation temp.(1/2 way), but ocassionally the temp will go up. Almost hits the "H" but always goes back down to 1/2 way after a min or 2. Does anyone know how to bleed out the air bubbles out. Can I just open the radiator cap when the engine is cool and just pour in some more fluid? What do I do? Can someone help me? Does anyone else have this problem? There is nothing seriously wrong with my car is there? Please Help...

 

Loosen the bolt on the intake manifold. If nothing comes out. Add a 50/50 mix
(half antifreeze/half water) until you see a steady stream of coolant come from the weep hole. Once it does. Put the bolt back on start the car & turn on the defroster & let the car warm up, until you see the coolant "swirl" in the rad neck( where the cap goes). This will mean the thermostst has opened. Add coolant as needed. Put the cap back on & drive the ***** off of it. Unless ofcourse it starts to overheat. If it does look for a faulty thermostat( yes it can "stick").

 

Where is the intake manifold? What exactally is a weep hole? ANd do I add coolant when the engine is running? You can probably guess that im pretty new to engines.

NEVER I MEAN NEVER add cold coolant to a hot engine. MAke sure the engine is OFF & cold before doing this.
Yes you can add coolant when the engine is running BUT only after you filled it & the coolant is coming from the weep hole( which if I remember correctly will be on the intake manifold nearest the front fuel injector). It should be labeled with a small sticker COOLANT BLEED SCREW( or something to that effect). It will also be near a sensor.

The intake manifold BTW, is the BIG aluminum piece that is on the right
(passenger side) of the engine the the throttle body( what the Air filter tube is connected to).
