HUGE Overheating problem!

First of all I drive a 92 240sx se...Haven't had a single problem with it until tonight.

So I am driving down the highway today on the way home from college for spring break. I had been taking it easy on my car for most of the way...not revving high not blastin down the road...and suddenly my CEL pops on along with my overheat light. So i pull off the road real fast and managed to stall out because i was in such a hurry. Its dark out...about 6 oclock...so i start my car back up and see steam and think ****. Then suddenly I hear a super loud bang come from under my hood. My first thought is **** thats a head gasket! So I shut the car off and pop the hood. Luckily my engine bay is covered in coolant not oil. So I start checking my cooling system and find a 6 inch gash in the bottom of my upper radiator hose. So I am like great as I am 100 miles from where I left and 50 miles from home. So i call the state troopers and get one to drive me to auto zone. At auto zone they are all out of my hose so i get a 18" generic one and head back to my car. I get back to my car slap it on fill it up with fluid thank the cop and drive off. I get MAYBE a mile down the road before my temp gauge is maxed out. So I'm like **** and pull back over and turn my car off real quick. I call Spencer and he reminds me I need to bleed my system. So I get the rest of my coolant and start bleeding the system. Well I don't have enough coolant to do it all the way so i call my dad and tell him to start headed towards me with more coolant. So I start walking down the road hoping to find an exit with a gas station to get more coolant...well the next exit is way down the road and by the time i get there my dad picks me up. So we head back to my car with the coolant and pull out the thermostat thinking it was stuck shut. We bleed the system with the thermostat out [which from the looks of it is fully functional] and i jump back on the road. Well my car promptly shoots back up in heat and I limp to a gas station. We check to make sure the system was fully bled and that nothing was leaking. I take it for a spin around a food lion parking lot a few times with no problem so i pull back into the gas station. Once I pull in and stop rolling the heat jumps up again. So I park my beloved car in the parking lot, load my stuff into my dads car and head home.

So this is the run down on it:

Not the thermostat

Nothing is leaking

I dont think it's the water pump because the coolant is getting all the way to the bleeder hole.

I am 99% sure the system is fully bled as the bleeder hole was just putting out coolant.

I remember now that my heat wasn't working at one point on the trip...as in it was just blowing cold air so it MAY be the heater core.

Currently my car is stranded 50 miles away from me and I hope to get it fixed tomorrow.

Now my question...What do you guys think it could be? I really hope its not the heater core because that would be an absolute *****, but from the way i see it something must have blocked the flow of coolant to make that hose blow like it did. And I didn't have heat on the trip which I thought was strange but didn't put much thought to. So if you could please give me some ideas before I get a ride all the way out there tomorrow that would be great. Where can I find info on a heater core removal? Can I bypass the heater core? Do you think just switching the heat switch to cool might do it temporarily? Please help me out guys...I miss my car

it think it's the pump. the coolent may be getting to the bleeder hole because of the pressure maybe. the pump is cheap enough and simple enough to replace.

WOW. I would **** my pants if they told me that. If a shop diagnoses a problem wrong you shouldt have to pay them.

hey bro if you have a dumptruck/truck shop near you, they can weld your block close with no problem. they do it allllll the time.

also there is a hardener that my Subaru tech buddy used to repair a crack in his block. it hardens in 24hr to a strength as strong as the metal surrounding it

My dad called the shop...he gave them 3 choices

1. Give me all my money back
2. Swap a new engine in for free if not dirt cheap
3. Get sued to hell and back
