I can't figure it out . Help!

i was driving the other day and went to pull out at a stop sign and when I hit the gas it wouldn't move . It's like the rpm's were going down instead of up . so I pulled into a parking lot . It would bog like crazy if I even looked at the gas pedal . I checked the timing , cleaned the fuel filter , checked for vacuum leaks and checked all of my electrical connections and nothing . It Idles perfect but you can't touch the gas . I finally pulled the air filter off (which is brand new) and put my hand over the end of my intake and let just a little space for air to get through and it would rev like a champ as long as I had my hand over it . I ended up taping the end of an Armor all container over the end of my intake and poking 8 holes in it to get it home . Anyone have any ideas on what's goin on ?

Already changed fuel pump .

almost sounds like it's running lean. When it's getting too much air and/or not enough fuel, you lose all torque but still have top end.

I would know how to troubleshoot it on a carb'ed engine, but I'm still getting used to the FI system.

I hope I'm at least pointing you in the right direction.
