I have plans to relocate my battery to my trunk as well. I want to make as much room as I can in the engine bay for pipes and all. I was looking at a car with a CA in it and the antifreeze bladder was just laying in the compartment. Space becomes tight when you have pipes running all over the place.

yo, this is kinda dumb but how do people go about adding an additional battery ... lets say u want to hook up a really powerfull system, and u leave a battery in the regualr spot, how do u go about adding a battery to the trunk ?

not 100% on this cuz i really hate electrical ****, but don't you just hook up the negative to any sheetmetal piece that connects to the frame and then run your positive to whatever you want to power?

I am not sure that it is that easy. Doing that would just leave you with a battery like when you put one in a walkman. Do you want to change that battery everytime it is drained?

I would think that you would run a leg off of your current battery so that the system battery would be charged by the altinator as well. You might just have to wire it in series with the main battery.

I would take it that you would need a higher output altinator while you were at it.

Why don't you just wire in some capacitors? They will store a charge and release the extra amps needed when the system kicks in.

Your stock alternator would never be able to power two bateries, even an aftermarket alternator would not be able to keep them fully charged thus reducing life in both batteries. The only way to do it is independantly, but you have to change the battery each time it drains (or get a battery charger for your garage). If you are feeling really special you could try hooking up another alternator through your belts system, maybe get rid of A/C to compensate hehe, it would be tough but I have seen it done once. I would recommend just getting a good aftermarket alternator, battery, and a couple of caps.

refer to this thread for more, I guess I might be wrong about the setup. I'm still not sure how well the second battery setup would hold up, if anyone has tried it post in the thread above, i would love to hear about it.
