leaky trunk
leaky trunk
Hey, whenever it rains and i have stuff in my trunk it gets wet, underneath the rear mat is soaking, i put in new tail lights and didnt re-seal them with that black junk that was origanally on them. Do you think the wet is coming in through the lights, or the hatch seal? thanks dave
i had a similar problem with mine. if you have a stock spoiler on it then what happened to mine was that it rusted under the spoiler where the bolts are and leaked in through the rust. if this is the case then some good old JB Weld should do the trick.
Hi, you need to reseal those lights with the right material, silicone wont do.... I had the same problem and the only thing that stop the leak was to take the lights out, clean the contact area (around light and cavity) and use brand new material, you can buy at Auto Zone or any auto parts store...I think is called Butyl.....??? Comes in a roll. Apply it and heat with blower then mount the lights and Wollaaa!!! NO leaks my friend.....
Stay dry!!!
I have the same leaky trunk problem...and found that it was the stupid mounts on the stock spoiler. One of the bolts had fallen off and was letting water in the hole. I just used a piece of electrical tape on the inside for now untill I replace the spoiler
I wouldnt exactally use jb weld unless you plan on permantly sealing that hole....I would hit up the local auto parts store and see if they have any of that gummy black sealant or something along those lines. so if you do ever decide to replace your spoiler you can..But I have noticed that the spoiler on the S13 was not exactally designed to really last....but crap happens
o, i took my spoiler off today, and lets just say, it died long ago, what used to be a stiff, metal lined spoiler, can now bend all over. its completly rused out. so of course, i put it right back on, haha. but first, i pulled out the white plugs, and sealed them with some 3M emblem adhesive, just put a big patch over the hole, hopefully it wont leak anymore.....
