listen to this wastgate

http://videos.streetfire.net/categor...BD037591D4.htm

why is his wastagte opening up so much.is it because his blowoff vavle opening is small and the rest of the air has no where else to go ,so it goes to the wastegate ??? any help on this would be great

the wastegate bypasses exhaust gas around the turbo so only a certain amount (psi) of air is forced into the intake. the bov only depressurizes air as the rpms drop abruptly or upon shifting (when the tbs close). the wastegate and bov do not work in tandem as one is for exh gas and one is for filtered pressurized air. I hope this explains a lil better

yeah your right ,compressor surge would make that fluttering noise, but what causes compressor surge.

not having a bypass valve or bov, the pressurized air inside the intake/intercooler piping will start to spin the turbine backwards

All I'm hearing is the bov opening everytime he gets off the throttle. So whenever the throttle blade is closed the pressure in the boost pipe rises and opens the bov (fluttering sound.) Notice the fluttering sound everytime the engine rpm drops? I'm not hearing any surging.

Surging sounds more like a rev limiter or a two step. That is something that will happen if your sitting on the chip, retarding your timing and running high boost with the wastegates mostly closed (drag race staging.) All the boost has nowhere to go so it "surges" out the compressor inlet. Although it could very well be surging when he is on the rev limiter in his burnout but I didn't hear it. Surging can also happen under full throttle accelerating with a mismatched setup but didn't hear that either when he was accelerating.
