Looking forward to hearing how it goes, and whether the car is actually any faster when you're done.

After owning many cars, imports and classics, the 240sx was my first manual transmission.
To be honest never driving a manual was a little intimidating but after about a week of driving it I never want to drive an auto again.
Not to put down an auto. I had a '74 Pontiac Bonneville with a big 400hp v8 that was an auto and that thing was fast. It is just more fun to drive (in my opinion, which is worth about as much as my ate-up front brakes) the manual transmission is just so much more fun to drive.
P.S. I did the stomp the break instead of the clutch thing in my moms Volvo not long ago. Man it scared the **** out of me. lol

Whoa, whoa, no need to be rude here, I think Atown 240 was just illustrating the fact that for certain types of racing auto is actually BETTER.
Lets not all get our panties in a bunch, especially when asking for someones opinion.
Anyway, if you're going to be doing engine work later, might as well do the swap WHILE you work on the engine. Good luck.

I'm a little unclear about why you even started a thread with the title "Manual Conversion or Performance" if you've already done a R&R on a Mustang.

ur post doesn't make much sense. explain mabey i'm just tired lol
"Remove and Replace"
Allow me to clarify.
If you have already removed and replaced the engine in your Mustang, the implication is that you're not a beginner. Asking, "should I do performance mods first, or a manual transmission swap?" doesn't seem like a question somebody who's done that much work to any car would ask.

There are many advantages to a 5speed better grip with better stage clutch kits, I have an aluminum flywheel and 6 puck sprung, (That means I dropped drivetrain degredation). Defenitely a performance gainer and my rear tires almost skirt in third gear with under 200CHP......... Are you skirten' in 3rd PNG????
To ATOWN that is a good deal with shipping, although there is a risk of the syncros being really worn for a used transmission. Things that sometimes seem like a bargain can be the biggest rip off.

I would mabey consider my self to be better then a beginner, and less then a above average lol
after about a couple of hours into the swap, i noticed that there werent any sensors or TOB assembly on my tranny. what a big mistake.. now my car has been down for more than a month because i'm waiting to get parts.
