In the market for one of these fine automobiles!!

HI all!

I have scrounged up about 7 thousand dollars for my first car

Looked it up, and it turns out I want a 240SX with the SX trim automatic

Im into modding, real modding, not fart cans, neon paint, huge spoilers, but looking for a car I can change stuff out on without getting too in-depth

no SR20DET swaps for me, sorry

So is this car safe?
reliable?
hows the insurance?

Thanks all!

First of all the stock motor is fine. In fact it kicks ***. Add a turbo and you'll be going faster then any honda turbocharged out there The gas on the car is pretty decent too so dont have to worry about that. Umm... Its rear wheel drive so depending where you live like me in New England (snow) people say it sucks to have but its also fun at the same time. And depending on how you drive the car is safe and fun to handle.

Have fun.

how long do they last on average with mild abuse?
are they expensive to repair?
do the seats hold up well?
Can I have a link to a website filled to the brim with 240sx information?
thanks

What is the point of your modding if your going automatic. If your sticking to automatic I'm guessing your going strictly show, and thats a ***** slappable offense with a 240. What your looking to do you can do with any car these cars are ment to be driven and enjoyed at high speeds. So there is heavy congestion in your area big deal there is heavy congestion in most big cities that doesn't stop other people driving manny.

Very reliable safe and good insurance wise.

BTW what do you consider real modding?

NO

GO MODS, maybe a bit of a tatefull bumper...but mainly go mods

like intake, cams, cats, exhaust, headers

whats so wrong with having that on an auto??

pelase stop with the *****ing about the automatic thing

get over it

...edit...

OR
could I pass smog with an SR20DET with CA emissions controls?
How about turboing the stock KA?
I cant pair an SR20DET to an auto can I?
Greddy makes a turbo, does anyone have experience with it?
HOw much HP can be made with minor mods on a stocker?
How does the stocker dyno?
HOw heavy is the car?
Is it easy to lighten? CFhood, fenders, bumper?
good wheel sizes and offsets? HOw wide can I go?
Are there any auto tranny upgrades?valvebody? Touque converter? Chips?
thanks again!

but what for man your not into drifting or racing so why do you need it to go fast with those "GO" mods There is nothing wrong with an auto tranny if your a show car or its just a daily driver. But I see very few reasons to mod an auto car espeacially for performance because you are loosing alot of performace just by keeping it automatic.

Doesn't sound like to me your serious about 240's at all sounds like your only selling point on it is RWD. For twisty tracks you need to mod suspension more than engine. Don't mean to sound like a dick but doesnt sound like your really want a 240. With 7000 dollars you can find a 240(s13) for like 1000-2000 and invest 5000 dollars into it. If you were actually serious.

Man, do you know how to drive a stick? is that really why you want an auto? If your going to the track you'll want a stick to get power when you want it, not when the tranny decides to. Don't be scared, get a stick

Stick is easy to learn dude you just gotta jump into it head first don't be afraid to make mistakes and if you want some more info on driving stick heres a site that helped me first learn on a clunker. http://www.epinions.com/content_2037555332

...Im just gonna have to find another forum arent I?

Im all about having fun, I dont want a serious track car.
Just something tastefull
I want increased power, smog-legal
maybe intake, full exhaust, cams, cats, headers, pulleys, wheels n tires, a bumper and maybe a solid CF hood

is it that hard to say

I've heard good things about such n' such exhaust, I really suggest it

you guys need to start being nice to newbies, youll never get new members this way

I can drive a manual, I JUST HATE IT i had my mom's tercel, hated the manual; uncle's modded 350Z, loved the auto

best friends 350Z, hated the manual

I DONT LIKE MANUALS

I wish I didnt have to go through this crap
another thing you couldve done is

WE DUN LIEK NUC0MMERZ HERE, WE LIKE TO SIT AROUND AND WARD OFF PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE EXACTLY WHAT WE DO

but simple answering of questions is nice
really nice
I actually prefer it to dick-holery

THANKS
