ok lets get back on track here....there was one semi positive reply to this new concept.
i dont think its that bad. it kinda looks like the scion tc but with that nissan attitude. granted it doesnt look like a real 240 because the 240 has had the same styling concept for ever! look at all the new cars that are out now, they either look like the older style(new mustang) or they look completely redesigned(new charge and the new GTO) so you have to give them some credit for being bold and different. personally i think they should have stayed with the 97-98 desgin just make the engine bay a little smaller and make it easier for us 240 owners to do upgrades on things. i think some one mentioned it earlier about making it turbo or super charged from the factory...that would be awesome.
reminder: this is just my opinoin!

I recently read a report on the insurance institute and testing that does the DOT approvals. Chances are you won't see many turbo vehicles of any kind out here in the U.S.
Reason is more accidents with faster cars and insurance companies DON"T like that, especially if you spent under $40,000 for the car(example: The WRX STI with it's $35,000 price tag). Insurance companies feel that if you can't break the bread to drive a car that goes fast you shouldn't. Thats why we were stuck with the KA for the last 15years in the 240......
As far as the Skyline is concerened Nissan would of had to do 1 of 2 things, build a manufacturing plant somewhere in the North American region (Example: Nissan Titan built in Tennessee, and look at it's $45,000 dollar price tag to comp the cost of the 3.5billion dollar manufacturing plant).
Or import the Skyline brand New from the manufacturing plant in Japan or Australia, and the SKYLINE would now have a over $100,000 dollar price tag due to fees and import taxes. Nissan feels that there customers should not have to pay that much for there inline 6turbo's or there v6, "you can thank uncle SAM for that one...........
I mean that sarcastically......

if it does come here like that they will probably put in the sentra motor but still have it rear wheel drive and a little more power. just like the 200sx, 240sx, and 300zx but the new line up would be the sentra ser, the 240sx, and then the 350z. so it more than likely wont have a v6 or a turbo. they wouldnt be able to market something like that. plus now a days people dont want a turbocharged car anymore like during the 90's. if you look at it only a select few make a turbo (WRX, STi, Evolution, and the SRT4) thats it. now if you drive you barely ever see an evo and the srt but you see a lot of the subarus just cause they were able to market them well. plus they have high insurance. last i heard the sti has "race car" type insurance but i dont know.
then for the u.s skyline, last i heard they didnt know what motor was being put in it. either a n.a. v8 from the q 45 series or the 3.5 litre v6 turbo charged. either way it would have over 400 hp

Honestly what I would like to see from Nissan and the New 240sx is a 2.2litre displacement QR rear wheel drive.
I've seen the potential of the 2.5 and I must admit that for 2.5 litre @ 180CHP, does very well when it's up against the honda class of cars"Prelude, RSX", it only follows .3 seconds behind the RSX type-S.
I am not happy with the Rev of the 2.5 or the fact that it is bored so large that the engine itself is to thin walled. Engineers at Nissan have even claimed that this displacement was not ment for high boosting. But rather for high impact N/A, probably why they also chose to go distributorless, that and it's cvet technology.
Atleast with 2.2 there will still be torque potential, with a little more high rev, which in most cases with drifting that is more of the feel that a driver want's..... At least at 2.2 litres tuners can have the option to increase displacement and bore size.
If it does become 2.2litre you can get some high boosting with high rev out of that mother if you chose to go F/I.
The one thing that I think is UGLY as shiat on the QR is the new smog technology, I think it will be funny when you buy a performance header that has a FUC^IN' CAT on it... The draw back of the CAT on the header is that Nissan claims the amount of backpressure is so intense it drops 20HP at the wheels.
This is something that defenitely needs to be corrected or you wont see me swapping any QR anytime soon.
I also wouldn't mind watching the 240 go V6, kinda like Nissan did with the Altima VS. the Maxima.....
Maybe as 240 fanatics we should give Nissan of America our input as far as engine type, and HP output is concerened, maybe they will listen....
Just my 2 cents.......

yeah wellll... that's why we drop skylines motors in our 240's which i'm gonna do and i'll just go rub it in their faces and say hhahaah poo-pooo nissan skyline engine in my car since your asses wont let the nissan skylines over here from japan and I'll lay some tires down in their parking lot.
All this "crappy 2007 240sx" represents is that Nissan doesn't give a crap about there cult following, I feel horribly disrespected and misrepresented.
Horrible engineering as well as tasteless design, in my opinion send it back to the drawing boards, all Agree???????????
I want a mean/aggressive looking front end like the s14/s15 not that of a ***** SCION........

SHIFT_Sideways tell them that you have a RB engine in it, next day your car is yanked!! Illegal engine, won't pass emissions here in US. like wise for sr, ca. but dont tell them that
2ndly im curious as to what reply the DOT will give you in the e-mail u sent them.
Why can't it be like the good'ol days 300zx promo commerical "...and the twin...turbo's...kicked.....in!!!"
Nissan, built for the human race

I just wanna give props to Big Vinnie for informing all of us and being the reason I come to this forum!!!
IMO Nissan's concepts are kinda trash.... The Azeal?! FF with a turbo QR, its just a bootleg V35 with some gay LED brake lights. they need to bring REAL skylines and silvias back.
It seems no matter what these car makers try, the classics like 240sx, RX7, AE86 Corollas, etc can never be duplicated or remade. But if Nissan truely does decide to make a new model Silvia/ 240sx, I hope that it sticks somewhat to the roots (keeping it with the FR platform). I just wish better cars would come out in the future that are affordable, tunable, and sporty..........cuz Scion's Effing Suck.

The main reason is that Nissan is no longer owned by the Japanese. It still maybe home based in Japan, but Nissan lost a hard battle to bankruptcy in the mid 90's.
Now Since the turn of the 21st century the new ownership belongs to a french company although the haduken style assembly line and Japanese still run the plants.
Since the loss of Mr. Uzi Nissan former founder and president the concept designs have fallen to shiat.
I guess we will never see the REBIRTH of the Datsun 510 either, thats a shame because that is what I was really waiting for......
