Datsun 510 with an KA24det/fully built by PHAT KAT.
510 chassis......PRICELESS
Although I got one for $500
They never said this car is coming out in 2006 as a 2007 model, people are just making assuptions. If it was going to come out they would have shown at least a prototype at the auto shows, when they showed of the other new cars.
owwwwwie, my fuckin head...
the misinformation here is rampant:
1. SR's and RB's are dead. finished. done. it's a wrap. bottom line, they don't meet Japan's new emmissions standards and have hereby been discontinued. how many new models feature them?
2. the "Nissan Skyline" is on sale here in the States: it's none other than the Inifinity G35 Sedan and Coupe. Taken directly from the Nissan Japan Website:
http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/LINEUP/lineup_07.html V35 Sedan
http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/LINEUP/lineup_32.html V35 Coupe
if any research was done at all, it would be known that Nissan, in it's infinite wisdom, seeks to separate the "GT-R" performance car moniker from it's "Skyline" family car origins. hence, the forth-coming vehicle that the world breathlessly awaits is simply the "Nissan GT-R". the Skyline has always been a family/commuter car while it's GT-R derivative has always been a performance machine, and nearly an entirely seperate model in its own right. now, it will be.
3. it's highly unlikely we're going to see a rebirth of the 240. from today's concept/production car designs, to the continued lack of a compact RWD market segment, it appears to me that
***OPINION ALERT*** not to be taken as fact or gospel truth
we will not see a new 240 or a vehicle that resembles it. i think it will likely be round and bubbly (like that horrid concept pic) and without the great lines that made the S13, S14, and S15 so sexy. not to mention, i can totally see the new vehicle being FWD. look at what became of the "200SX": basically a chopped down 2 door B14 Sentra. FWD "Impalas", "Monte Carlos", and "(Mercury) Cougars". it's been done before. plus, Nissan's all about platform sharing (to keep costs down). currently, there isn't a compact RWD platform that i'm aware of (though i could be wrong and have been wrong before). which means they would have to either create a new one (again, not enough of a market out there to justify this), or chop down the G35/350Z platform.
4. factory turbocharging of the new 240 will not likely happen. especially if it's RWD. why would Nissan want to have a less expensive, entry-level sports car cutting into their Z sales? and, of course, there's the whole DOT/insurance institute thing...
wow, talk about a fuckin novel!!
my bad...
