Nasty noise from steering..

Recently bought a used 240 95. When i turn the wheel it makes a loud noise as if its struggling. Could it be the power steering pump? rack n pinion? etc...? its the loudest when im standing still, but it does make noise when im driving also.

More than likely power steering pump is going bad. Or the seals on your rack and pinion are screwed. Check the rack first for leaks. If no leaks, then replace the pump.....

How did you "check" the fluid? The fluid can be all the way to the top of the container and STILL be low. Get some power steering fluid for a couple of bucks and try pouring some in, you might suprise yourself to see it gurgle it down.
