Forgive me if this isn't in the right forum. I tried putting obd2 in the search box but nothing came back. Here's my question:

Situation: I will be buying a 1996 240sx from a buddy of mine. In the future, I will be installing either s13 redtop sr20 or the rb20. Now, when i have completed the swap, how will I pass the yearly inspection and emissions test?

I did more searching and i found the "Legalities of Engine" thread. Basically I just find a shady inspector to pass me. Correct?

Are there any other ways? I came from a world of hondas, now trying to learn about nissans.

 

You said it yourself, find a shady inspector.

Or run with out papers. Your choice

 

okay, so those are my 2 options. JW, how does a inspector go about passing swap s14's with obd2?

 

I would refer to that shaddy inspector more like your saviour if i were you.

all he will do is either put all your cars info on his little computer and roll up another car for the test or if he has another 240 around your model he will use that as his test dummy.

Only way to have a motor swap be legal is that, if the engine came from another model of that car... so for 240's only "legal" swap u can get is the ka, i was told this buy a buddy of my dads who owns a smog shop. so yeah find mr. shady
