Ok, I need your guys input...

Well, I have been lurking around here for quite a while. I'v been looking for 240's here and there. I'v really been looking for s13's, but I recently found this.... http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/car/749653950.html What do you guys think? It's an SE, and it runs, but has some weird problem which he think is with the fuel system. Anyone heard anything kinda like that with 240's before? Think its just an old fuel pump? I have a daily driver, and am really looking for something I can tinker with on the weekends. I really don't have much experience working with cars(this would be a learner car for me), but know a good(honest) mechanic and will be looking at the car with a mechanic friend. Thanks for all the input.

I would suspect fuel pump, injectors, fuel filter, mafs, or spark plugs or ecu. all are easy cheap fixes. If you are up for it i say it's a pretty good deal and good learning car.
Btw, it's Y'all or you all
just teasing

Wow. I wish we'd get s14's that cheap here in socal. For $1000, why not?

Sure you want an automatic though?

Thanks for the input. No, I don't want an auto, but like I said, this will be a learning car for me. I have a civic, so that's what I'll be driving daily. I need to figure out how to get it here, and title it without insuring it, because I won't be running it on the streets for quite a while. Thanks for the ideas on the problems, helps a ton.

You can get it titled without insurance, it is the tags and registration that you won't be able to get. The title is just proof of ownership, its the registration that confirms that the particular car is approved for public roads!

Also, I picked my S13 up in Richmond, a little over 3 hours away from my home. I found a U-Haul near the seller's location, and picked up a full car trailer for a one-way trip from there back here. I'd recommend that method if you have a truck capable of towing that load!

Gotcha, that helps, i'm going to go talk to state farm, and whatnot tomorrow. I thought about it, but it woudl cost me about 170 with renting the truck, too. I don't know someone who has a truck that can do it. I was thinking of trying to drive it back up here to Lafayette(about 50 miles). Think that's a bad idea? I'd probably take it slow on the backroads, and avoid the highway. Again, I have to work out insurance with that. Well, any more ideas would be awesome, but i'll let you guys know if anything comes of this.

if you do try and drive it make sure you have a back up plan. 50 miles doesn't seem like too much really, i bet you could do it. you could always just drive it down the street a little bit, and maybe replace a few things at your local autozone before going the rest of the way (at least the plugs and fuel filter and maybe bring a spare mafs )

I'll have my friend follow me in my civic, so I won't get stuck. I'll probably end up driving it to my friends apartment(like 10 miles) and working on it there with him(he's going to Lincoln tech right now, so he's more in tune with it than I am). I'll check out the fuel filter, plugs(basic tune up stuff), maf, and maybe fuel pump if that doesn't fix it.

i'd say keep an eye on this forum along with a few other 240 forums. you may find one to your liking at a very good deal.
