rear end rumble!

rear end rumble!
okay, when i take a turn and try to accelerate out, if i give too much gas (it isnt much), and especially if i try to power over, get a rumble from the rear end. i thought it might be the subframe bushings so i did a search and discovered that many people have a loud thump/clunk and the problem is so bad that it happens to them sometimes even under normal acceleration, shifting, "applying heavy load" to the rear end. my problem certainly isnt as serious as that, but i was wondering if it was similar, and if the subframe spacers/collars would fix my problem?
i was looking into the Specialty Z spacers by Greg Dupree which are only lower spacers for $60. i also saw on jspec.com there is a full set (top and bottom) by P2M, they are being sold for $95. would i notice a big difference between the P2M full set top and bottom, or should i just go with Dupree's bottom spacers? thanks!

Hey it might not be your subframe spacers, it could be your rear diff....You could have gotten water in it...you would be able to tell if you open it up and there is rust present on the gears...or it could just be going out on you

Definetly sounds more like a problem internaly like he said /\. A rear sub frame issue would definetly be more of a thump/clunk noise. A grumble wouldn't describe a sub frame problem, at least not in my opinion. Although anything is possible. I think you should get some sub frame spacers for the simple fact that if nothing else at least it will stiffin up that rear end. I would go with a top and bottom set. I purchased Kazama spacers for my '95 to get rid of my thump noise. They were top and bottom. They are a little up there in cost, but well worth it. I don't know how some of the budget spacers are, but the Kazama "upper" spacers have a cut out so you can slide them into place. Install was a snap, about 5 min. only because I am a technician and have access to a lift. On the ground on stands it may be a little more difficult. Try to do a rear diff. service too. Rear diff. service is like pwer stearing fluid and brake fluid to most people, they never think to change it. Cars with the age and milage as high as most 240's and the fact that we buy them used that way, we don't think to do it anymore than the previous owner. Drain and fill that fluid and see if it doesn't help. PM me if you have any questions.
