RPM's 2k-3k dead spot
RPM's 2k-3k dead spot
Hey all,
I searched for a bit but could find no real solution.
'92 240 coupe manual. AEM intake
So the problem is on my rpm band in 1-3 gears the rpm's "struggle" through 2k-3k, and when it hits 3k it "pops" like it was normally suppose to accelerate. I put an intake on about a month ago;everything's been fine. I had a kill switch installed by a local shop two weeks ago, they messed with the electrical wiring I believe; although it seemed fine for a week after. I recently drove to Vegas from SoCal and all was good drove 'bout 85-95 the whole way. The problem occured after this trip. When I got back I changed my oil. The problem still persisted. I checked all the lines and everything is attached and fine. I had my car on and listened to the engine, it sounded like something was a little loose. The rest of my power in the powerband is still there 35k-6k pulls like normal. The smog station could not test my car cause of the rpm's not staying persistent.
I really hope that it's a very basic 'common' problem.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It did it too my 89 coupe too... I acually think, and have been told, It might be the clutch.. like it's not catching at first or something... because if I shift @ 6k, then second gear hits around 4k or something, it doesn't do it... only if I shift early, and give it gas it like.. bogs down.. :|
