If you are going to cut it off, cut the **** not the shaft....

I know on the saturn I had they were pressed on and quite a few guys popped themselves in the face when it let loose and/or broke off their rearview mirrors....

you know those ****ers back in japan are sitting back laughing at our asses right now. because they dumped like a tube of locktite on half of the shifters on the production line.

mine was a ***** also but it finally broke loose. i would say hacking it would be a last resort. but good luck.

The vise grips messed up the bottom of the shiftknob... It'll screw back on fine but its not the nicest to look at anymore.

I tried to get mine off, and my stupid shifter broke in half...I was using vicegrips, and twisting it around and it just broke in half...so I had to buy a short shifter. Well now the mounts for the short shifter rattled loose and fell off, by the way I wouldnt prefer a OBX short shifter off of ebay...lol So now my OBX short shifter comes out of my transmission.
