sr20 reliability.

i just wanted to know because i will be using my sr20 as a daily driver. what are some expected problems i can run into. how much mileage on the motor before i start the headaches again. i need this motor to get me through 6-8 years of college. is doing the sr swap a smart thing to do then for this purpose??

Depends

If the engine you are getting was treated well...whether you treat it well. It is just like anything else, you will take a chance with it. No one can tell you it will be fine.

Had a friend get a 94 SR20DET (S13 Blacktop) that blew the first day he drove it....he was out the $3000 or so....

It's a gamble.

As far as the SR20DET itself....I think it is a very durable engine. I have had a CA18DET, RB20DET, and the SR20DET.

All good motors.

Whatever you decide...good luck.

It's a reliable motor just like any nissan engines. Just like RedStage said, it depends on how you treat it, and how the previous owner treat it. Make sure the motor you buy is compression tested and look at the numbers. Ask about the warranty, too.
