SR20DET, what kinda power?

I was wanting to know what kinda power can the sr20det handle in stock trim? Would it be safe to upgrade to say a, t67 turbo as long as the boost isn't outragious?

No one in the states knows for sure what kind of power levels the stock internals can handle. We are all about to find out though. So far my friend Scott has made 454rwhp and phase2 has made 474rwhp both on stock internals. Scott was at a mere 18psi when he did this on pump gas. He has since added more goodies and will begin tuning higher boost levals on race gas. e is a master tuner and I will expect to see 500-550 no problem.

Is this power available for all sr20's with stock internals. For instace could I get a bluebird engine to save a couple hundred dollars over an s13 and then just crank the boost way up?

Well it involves much more than cranking up the boost but yes, all SR20DET engines when properly tuned can sustain these power levels.

I have read somewhere before that someone threw a rod at 385hp at the flywheel. He had no detonation problems and the motor was running great(of course until it blew). This was with a red top with 40-45,000 miles on it. However, all motors are different from each other in their own way. Some were put together better than others.

Everything can get distorted from one person to the next. Did he have an elaborate fuel management system with knock measuring capabilities? If not than there really is no way to tell if there was detonation in there. I know all of the high hp turbo cars I have been around are loud enough to mask the sound of slight to moderate detonation. I will aggree with you that some motors are put together better than others. But I am confident that this motor is capable of producing these numbers without failure, when properly tuned.
