Starting problems

Ok I have a 1991 240sx no engine mods.. I got a problem starting my car. This happened gradually. One day it just wouldn't start for some reason.. Then the problem just got more and more frequent over time. It cranks and everything but it doesnt start. I replaced my spark plugs. That didnt help too much. When i replaced them I got the engine started but when i turned it off and tried to start again nothing.. Any ideas?? thanx

go get your alternator and battery tested first. I had the same problem (but most of the time my car wouldnt even turn over!!) and it ended up being the starter.

yeah, i checked my battery and alt but they were fine. My engine sometimes just like clicks but wont turn over. I think it's my starter. Cause if i try like 10 times it eventually with crank. It happens once in a while

if it wont start, try banging on your starter, and then starting it, if it starts up then its your starter

Can you show pics of what the starter looks like?? And where is it located? under the car or hood?

crawl underneath the passengerside wheel...the starter is crammed right in front of the tranny and bolts onto the transmission housing via the engine block. I should have mentioned tapping the starter, thats how I started my car for two weeks

also check the wiring for any shorts, and the switch on the clutch pedal (if its manual) and make sure it makes a good connection.

Ok Im pretty sure its a fuel problem. Because it started not too long ago. It was very random too. But anyway i made the most of it cuz it was raining. So i went drifting, but then it was cut short.. I noticed when i reached a certain point of pushing the gas pedal down it would start sort of "choking" (best way to explain).. It was like getting little spits of gas..Then when that happened, the car would shake violently.. Like when u tap the gas in first gear..(just not THAT violent) Kinda like a spray of gas instead of a clean stream... So could it be injectors?? or maybe the fuel pump.... Should i get some injector cleaner??
