Dude, Bryan, so part of my post had incorrect info, my bad. I dont memorize S13 stuff all that well, its been a while. But at least not delete my post as I was answering his question as to the fact that 2K for an average S13 was/is a decent price. You and I know that for a fact.

160,000 isn't bad, the KA can take a lot as long as you take care of it.

Just make sure to change the oil when it needs to be changed. A guy I know has a brother who had a 318,000 300zx and it still ran. Until he got it that is because he didn't even know how to change him oil but was running auto-cross. It isn't smart to run your car at 110% if you don't even know how to check your oil. Engine is blown now. So just take good care of it and you can go for several years.

Kaiser is right, keep up with the maintenance and it will run for a good long time. My S14 has 198K+ on the odometer and even with 350Z 18's on there, it feels like she has good torque and great response for an almost 13 year old car. A friend of mine bought an S13 a few years back and it had over 300K on the odometer. She ran great... until he started running the thing like it was an SR built by Signal.

The paint isnt that bad, its just the clear coat that is "peeling" just make sure that whoever does the paint job, sands down the whole hood so the primer and paint goes on smooth. Make sure they use a primer since the clear already peeled and the paint under wont "bond" with the fresh paint.

Tell me bout it, my friend took good care of my current S14. Only thing I have to worry about now is a full tranny rebuild which will cost me about 450ish? with new water pump, fan and fan clutch, all I need to think about after rebuild is coolant hoses and maybe a new power steering. I want to yank out those stupid chain guides tho, they make a loud rattling noise now and I want to get them out before they do what Donnie said they would do eventually...

Otherwise, the motor is still running solid.

Man transmissions are a dime a dozen. New Autozone Clutch + used tranny probably would be around 300-400 bucks.

I thought it was until 1994 that they had KA24DE's w/ 155HP.

if so then not worth the 2 grand w/ a bad tranny, the paint peeling off and rims that look worse than stock

Ok well I keep comming up short with a civic and I am about to just get a 240sx......my dad said he would spend 5000 on me a car....i wonder if he can spend the 2g on the 240sx then spend 500-1000 for paint job?......btw I asked him today what was wrong with the 240sx and he didnt say nothing so I dunno if it had to much power and he just wanted to say the trans is going out or what. But just today I kinda begged him for that 240 cause I couldnt find a civic and now he is prob gonna get it sometime this week....I just want to know if I am making right decision for THIS 240...I searched 50 range width here for a 240 1990-1998 and nothing.BTW i read that the 1990's and up 240sx come with 2.4 DOHC.
