Zenki Fog Light Retrofit?

Just to start out, I LOVE my yellow zenki fogs lol but I was wondering, I have noticed people retrofitting projectors into headlights for hids. If I ever did this I would want my fogs to match. I love the white and yellow combo but if I got blue hids or something like that I would want the fogs to be the same color. Has anyone seen or know of anyone who has tried to switch the yellow projector with a clear one for some other headlight? Just a thought..

I doubt it's been done but it wouldn't be that hard. All you really need to do is find some clear glass projector lenses with the same diameter and focal point as the zenki yellow glass lenses. I would post about this on hidplanet to see if anyone knows of a lens with similar dimensions. Also, the zenki fog lamps can not be opened up the same as the headlights... there is no heat activated sealant, instead the fog lenses are permanently fixed to the housings. You will have to carefully cut them open to gain access to the internals. Oh, and if you ever need help doing a retrofit on your actual headlights i can guide you through it.

well thanks allot for the help, I'm not too willing to try this on my fog lights, maybe I can find a set for sale that have cracked housings or something and use them as test dummies. Just some things I have been thinking about and I will post this on hidplanet.

yea but if you actually have fog in your area you will be defeating the purpose of the lights and will actually make it harder to see. reason why foglights are yellow is because it penetrates the fog instead of reflecting off of it.

anyway just some info gl with the retrofit if you decide to do it

I agree with batto, fogs are sometimes necessary. vehicles equipped with HID from the factory are required to have halogen driving lights actually. As he mentioned the yellow light penetrates water molecules better than white light and therefore is much better in wet and foggy weather.

That is something I did not know. Always great to learn something new and I found a set of "test dummies" if you will, going to pick them up for $15. I do not want to test this with the fogs on my car so I will see how it these extra ones and if I find some hids and clear projectors I will install them and see how it looks, might be awhile though cause without a job hids are hard to come by lol. I think I should be okay with the kids fogs, they will be pointed down if I end up doing them and we hardly ever have any fog. The onyl reason I would use this one my car is to have the same color coming from all 4 lights. This is just something I thought I would try to make work, if it doesn't work then I still have the nice ones that came on my car.
