power steering and A/C removal
OK, so I have been doing some reading and I am thinking I might as well remove my power steering and my A/C. First off because I could use the HP gain, secondly because the A/C doesn't work anyways, and thirdly the power steering pump is leaking and about to go as well. Now I know my way around a 240 but I am just wondering: is removing the power steering as simple as taking everything off and plugging the holes? Let me know if there is a write-up somewhere that I missed. Thanks.

How about the A/C removal? Any pearls of wisdom on that?

I've survived one california summer and one louisiana summer with no AC in my old ae86, it's not that bad. And imo california summer is worst because of all the bumper to bumper traffic.
Power steering on the other hand... I had a "dried" p/s rack in my ae86 and my old fc. The 86.... easy as pie, the FC........ a total pita. Weight and rack design play a big roll in how a p/s rack reacts without a pump moving the fluid. Personally I wouldnt eliminate p/s in an s-chassis.

being that i lived in cali for most of my life i'm gonna have to disagree and say that georgia summers are the worst because of the humidity. fortunately there is the occasional thunder storm and tornado to bring the temp down a bit along with the power lines and what not. arizona would be second because its sop arid as is california. for the most part you can survive without a/c.

Ive lived Milwaukee,WI for 13yrs (born n raised in Madison/Barneveld) n in every car Ive owned I always ripped out the a/c in them for the weight removal n hp gain but it was never really a problem for me not having it in the ridiculous unpredictable weather we get in WI. N sadly I'm in a stupid lil arguement with some islanders on a forum about why n wut removing the a/c in 240's or any car for that matter (240's specifically tho) n for help on my sake to make it easier can someone on here plz intelligently explain why its good to do n for this guys sake to be more knowledgeable on it?. Hell maybe ill learn something I didn't know.

belt distance
the shorter distance a belt has to travel the faster it will go also not requiring to turn an extra pump just to cool down the car is also less stress on the belt and engine itself hence the extra 1 or 2 hp gain
