Speed Sensor / Governor (sp?) BYPASS
#33
I removed the gov in my 240sx 93' and i did it by cutting a cable that goes to a computer in the pasenger door. It was yellow and green, or green with yellow stripe. Carefull cus there's two of them, one just passes by the mangle of wires and one of them goes to the computer. my speed display is digital, so it goes all the way, not like the other ones with the numbers and bars wich can get you to like 110 or something, i don't know cus i haven't seen an analog display for this car. Before i removed it, it went to 118 and then stopped. Now its goes up to 134mph and then i got scared cus it was too fast and I was driving stock suspension, weels, and the highway wasn't so flat and straight. I have only a humongus K&N filter as in relation to any modifications. And the tires were suposed to be made for like 108mph, so I slowed down, but I think it would have kept going. I tried disconecting the wire to the speed sensor, it went to 0mph.

outstanding. good job man. see i never messed with digital speedometers so i dont know how everthing works on those.
lol i cant belive thats it so simple. just cuttin one wire disconnects the governor. but why would that single wire be going to the passanger door ???
maybe you did something else to it before.
i dont know. maybe its just the way digitals work.
appreciated, and have fun speeding.

if you go and read the begining of this thread.. i wrote a very EASY way to bypass the governor. go on page one (1) and i think the write-up starts at like the 4th reply.
it should be farly easy. and you can achieve speeds of 150+ mph if you have a good suspenion setup. (for your own good)
good luck.

i have a 96 240 with the stock ka24de, my friend did it on his 91 240 and it worked but when we tried doing it to mine we only saw three sensors. so what we were wondering is that does it work on the 96+ 240s???

yeah. defenitely. its kinda easier if you only have 3 sensors in the tranny... one of them is your 5th gear sensor, which you have to find out which one is it. so you have 2 extra.
but if i were you i would unplug all 3. its not gonna hurt anything... and then later on, plug one in, and see if its the 5th gear sensor (to find out how, read the begining of this thread)
and if its not the 5th gear sensor, leave it plugged and plub the next one... and do so until you will know which sensor if you 5th gear one. and leave that one unplugged.
good luck

dont know. never encountered that before.
but of course it will feel weeker if you go faster than 110 mph. the car doesnt have the power as it had when going below 100 mph. but it shouldnt matter if the speed sensor is off or on in a everyday city drive.
give me more info on your problem.

....
i'm talking about everyday city driving. It feels like the tranny is shaking but jux little enough to notice that there's a change. I haven't turn my speed limit off in 2 weeks. it just feel weaker in a way. Oh... and i haven't turn it on because i blew off my heat shield on my cat at 120mph. Oh and the weird thing is that, the engine just stopped on me. it didn't die, it just stopped and when i try to step on it i wouldn't go. I happen immediatly when i popped it into 5th but i've already had the 5th gear rev limiter pulled too. It stalled until i popped it back into 4th @ 60mph then worked when i popped it back to 5th. Weird! I was racing a Mazda 6 too... stalled right before the cop can clock me a like 200m away. oh and i wasted the MAzda...haha.

lol.
i dont know what could of cause the engine stall, or the shacking. i never encountered that problem with my 240. hmmm. i mean the speed sensor doesnt have anything to do with moving parts.. so turning it off shouldnt be the problem of tranny shackin.
hmm. thats interesting. try and play with the sensors in the tranny. plug all of them in, and just leave the 5th gear one out.
other than that, i cant give you any advices cause i never heared of that problem. lol. aiit man take care.
