Blown Timing Chain?

I recently followed up on a newspaper add on a 240 that "needed work." The guy selling it said that it had a blown timing chain. If this is in fact the case, is this dificult to fix? When the timing chain breaks, does anything else break with it?

think of all the little things the timing chain moves or comes in contact with.

with what you asked this maybe just alittle over your head.

If the chain is broken, then there's a good chance the timing is outta whack and the valves and pistons have become well aquainted with eachother. (i.e. the vavles are toast) That is, among other problems you could encounter.....
