Can Bad Alternator affect Tach?

Stalled my car at a light and the Damn thing wouldn't start. I Popped the clutch to get the car restarted. I got home and replaced the Knock Sensor cleaned the grounds and battery connections. Now my Tach won't work and my car still has intermittent starting problems, usually if I used my A/C before turning off the car. Question is Since the Battery is almost new, could a bad Alternator affect my Tach. I'll be checking with Voltmeter later.

your car stalled then dies, and you changed a knock sensor? Is that related, or just random>

Anyhow, there's a short somewhere. That's my first guess.

I had been running a check engine light for a while and turned out my knock sensor was bad.
