car died and not working

i drive a 1992 s13 hatch. and its a manual. i had the ac running and i was just crusing on the high way at around 55. i change the oil in it every 3000 miles. and i just recently changed coolent. as i was driving, i heard alot of clinks and clonks and then the engine died. i was like sht. so i put it in neutral and got to the slow lane still just coasting. i tried to start it in neutral with the cluch pedel in and it wouldnt start. i also tried to use the momentum of the car to push start it and still no luck. so then i just pulled over. when i open the hood the coolent in the resavoier was boiling and when i opened the oil cap steam was comming out?! so it would not start no more. i thought the timing chane would have broke. but it didnt cause today i took the valve colver off. and the front cover off and its still there. when i put the car to "on" the fuel pump turns on and all the lights turn on and when you start it. everything just dies. it might be a bad starter. but why wouldnt it start with a push start? i had a bad battery b4 and i had to push start a couple of times and it always starts. and right now i have a new battery. idk wats wrong. someone please help me. thanks

Does your oil look milky? Is there coolent coming out of the exhaust? The way you described it, it sounds like a blown head gaskit or a cracked head.

does it sound the same when you turn it over, or does it just sound like its whineing, you might have overheated it enough to frie your rings, thats what happend to mine, but my water pump died, i heard some clunking and then it died, when i turned it over it just sounded like a whine. so i got a compression tester checked compression on all 4 pistons and it read zero.

can you turn it over by hand, you know put a big socket on the crankshaft and try to turn it, if not then it sounds really bad.

Wow! Well, at least it lasted you for a good long time. Frankly, I'm amazed that any engine can last that long!

(sorry for picking your brain here, I just got a 240SX myself with 170K Kms [not miles], so it's good to know that it should last a while)

I'm no mechanic, but I'm guessing your engine overheated. All I can say is, keep an eye on the for sale section.
