<Back-ground Info>:
95' 240sx SE completely stock (KA24DE). Just recently, ECU starting throwing a check engine light.

<Question>:
Is there anyway to find out what code the ECU is throwing, without hooking up any diagnostic equipment? I know with a Honda I previously owned, there was a connector by the ECU that when shorted would allow the ECU to display what code it was sending, with a series of flashes. Just wondering if something like that is available on the 240. Thanks

 

you're car might be obd II. if that is the case all you need to do i hook up a scan tool to it. look under your steering column and see if there is a 3/4"x 2" thing that looks like you can plug something into it.

 

You should be able to put the ECU into diagnostic mode (or whatever the hell its called), turn the little thing, it will flash a little light, count the flashes and get the code...I know there's a thread somewhere about it, its also in the FSM...

 

When you say 'little thing', what exactly do you mean? And where is it located on the car? I'm not very familiar with Nissans...Now that I think about it, I need to order a Chilton manual for it, but that's beside the point.
