Coolant temp sensor?

I think my coolant temp sensor is bad. There are a few things pointing as to why. My coolant temp is always at half, right after i start the car, the car idles at 1400 rpm, representing "choke". and i'm getting poor fuel econemy since it's not telling the computer the motor is warm, its running in closed loop. What do you guys think? where is this bad unit located on my sohc?

Sounds like a temp sensor problem.

bad temp sensor alright. there are two of them, one for the a/c switch and one for the temp gauge. they are straight up from the thermostat housing. you'll see the two sensors and the bleeder screw. the one you want to replace is the single wire one.
