Does this Sound Right for a KA24E?

I just got my car back after letting a friend of mine use it while his car was in the garage and it sounds a bit different now. I'm not too sure but I think the engine's about ready to 'tap out.'

Can someone give me a diagnosis of how much longer it'll live?

Update on car:
So there I was driving on the highway when I felt a little less power than I normally would have in 5th gear so I downshift to 4th. Even less power... how strange. I shift back to 5th and continue on briefly. I'm about to take an exit when I slow down and shift to 4th... same reaction, so I slow down even more while shifting to 3rd. Completely useless. I pull to the shoulder only to see my car engine stop.

I think it's the engine, the car didn't want to start again anymore after that.

*sigh*... didn't want to start modifying that car until I got transferred to Washington State but it looks like an SR20DET swap is about due.

By the way, whoever guessed ~24hrs or 45miles left on the engine won.

Didn't get a chance to talk to my buddy... he's on a short deployment, but after replacing replacing the alternator & battery ($300)... the noise is gone. The car sounds normal again. I found a guy willing to sell a SOHC KA for $50 on the island just in case the engine was trashed.

I suck at localizing noise sources, thank you USN for destroying my beloved ears.

oh wow that's amazing i'd so incredibly overwhelmed that the engine wasn't trashed. so now that you replaced the alternator and battery is it running normal again? Have you got power it's power back again?

Surprisingly enough I got the same power I did before this whole debauchle. It's strange how this Nissan reacts to common problems. I've owned nothing but Toyota's until now and my AE86 would just quit without starting up nor show the symptoms of a misbehaving engine seen with the 240.

I can't wait until I take this whole car apart to figure it out & restore it.

Man, there must have been some serious rocks floating around that alternator.
