E pistons in DE motor

What are the choices for high compression pistons? I have heard rumors that the E pistons in the DE motor will give 11.6 to 1 compression. Is this true? Is there any machining required?

Thanks,

Yeah, it's true. Even though the compression in the E is lower than the DE, putting the E pistons in the DE will raise the compression to about 11:1. What's with the pic?

My E-Modified autocross car. It is a 68 Datsun Roadster. 1500 pounds with a 200hp U20 motor. It scoots pretty well on Hoosier 22x9x13 slicks. I plan on installing a KA24DE because it is 25 years newer technology and isn't as fragile as the U20. Try rebuilding one of those U20's 4 times a year. Talk about expensive.

I've seen that there may be a difference between the early e pistons and the late ones. Which gives the most CR? My neighbor sells race gas so I'm not too concerned with detonation. The car only holds 3 gallons and only runs on the track.

Thanks,
