FSM doesnt help... Timing chain/cams question

Does anyone know how to take the cams off? Also, do the cam sprockets have to come off to change the timing chain? I figured that while im changing the tensioners and hot cam swap i might as well replace the abused 113k mile chain... which i can tell is stretched because of unpredictable performace and notchy acceleration. Pics would be awesome, but thats asking a bit much huh?

You need to remove the bolts in front sprokets, then have a good look at the chain position with the sprokets. Mark it if possible. Remove the guides, remove the tensioner, remove the sprockets from the cams. Then you can put your new upper chain at the same position on the sprockets as the previous upper chain. To remove your cams, there is 12 bolts on each cams that you need to remove. You should be abe to remove them afterward.

Use a wrench to prevent the cam from moving and unbolt the front sproket cam with the appropriate socket and ratchet.

cool... but the more i look at the lower tensioner on the ka (mines bad and broke off a piece of the drivers side lower guide) the less i wanna replace it. SO, im probably gonna drive it till it croaks, at which point ill swap a ca in it, or ill just get the ca and rebuild/replace certain things like the turbo, timing belt and water pump, and swap the motor in, fix the KA and sell it. It only has 113k miles though.

If you are planing to replace the chain the first thing you need to do is set your motor at TDC!! do not remove anything untill you set TDC!

For the cam removal go to jim wolf technology and look under 1991 240sx cam removal. it is for the jim wolf cams but it is the same as stock cams in removel and replacing.
