fuel and air mixture?

fuel and air mixture?
I was wondering if the fuel and air mixture was messed up if that could cause black smoke to blow out my exhuast at high rpm. If not anyone know of anything else that could cause this. I just had pacesetter headers and a pacesetter high flow cat put on about 2 months ago.

Becaue of the high flow setting that you have now with your exhaust system, you might be noticing that you might actually be burning oil, I'm not saying its because of your headers and cat this is happening, but its rather letting you see whats going on with your engine because of the nice exhaust flow you have. i couldnt really tell you if its because of an unbalanced air/fuel mixure. but what i can tell you is that black smoke is a sign of your engine burning oil. if you wanna be sure its not your air/fuel mix install a air/fuel meter and see if it has a nice transaction from (lean to stoich to rich) its a fast one but make sure its aims more towards rich while cruising. Good luck bro.

black smoke mean's that you are probaly runing ritch.
and when you get a AFR gauge buy a wide band O2 sensor and instal it where your headers go from 2-1. it will give you a more accurate reading.

bad piston rings, valve seals. those are probably the most common. how much oil are you burning anyway? also if you rev your engine into higher RPM's (above 4500) alot you will consume alot more oil than if you "grandma" your car.
