i'd advise against switching to shell gas just because of past experiences. you should stick with chevron.
Gas is gas. What the **** does it matter? It all comes from the same refineries. The federal government regulates what detergents must go into the gas so you're good no matter where you fill up. The only thing to consider is that some stations are 92 octane for premium and some are 94, and some are even 91.

to an extent yes gas is just gas. difference is the additives each company adds once they have it in there holding tanks. chevron for example uses techron or something like that, i forget what shell uses but it's something alike.
the reason i suggested chevron and asked where exactly he was located is because the shell stations around here just have a dirty look to them. if any gas station around here where to ever be adding water to the fuel i'd suspect it's a shell.

Avoid arco, am/pm whatever they are called in your area. It burns fast and actually creates problems.
Personally, I use chevron for daily driving and 76 for the track days. Either way, I add Lucas injector cleaner, it actually helps with the mileage.

well the shell i was talkin about was the v-power but ya i should start using lucas my engine keeps giving me problems i think i have a vacuum leak somewhere and right before i left on my trip to ny it started to fire on 3 cylinders until i got up to speed then it would kick the last one on, so now i have to figure out why its doing that
long list of problems, i need a job..bad haha

Doesn't Nissan recommend 93 octane for the 240SX? I'm pretty sure when I was driving my friend's 240 and I put gas in it, it said For best performance use 93 octane or something like that. I don't know anything about different companies. However, if I remember right, I've been told that stations that end with "co" aren't good for your car. Something about they aren't a true 93 (and other numbers) octane. I don't know how true it is.

went to get some gas today and the local Wal-mart supercenter, tire center and hair care. and they had notes on all the pumps saying that they ONLY carry 87 octane all the way across the board. all three buttons were 87, what the F*** is up that? not that i could afford to put in the expensive stuff anyways but i want the choice damnit, i won't always be broke right?
okay maybe i will after all i do have a 240...
