Just bought 240sx 1989 for $300. Looks good but does not run Head burned up when they drove it with no water. Fix or Replace Engine 180,000 miles on it. Also cannot open rear lid, lock in-op how do you open it? Want to do it cheap not much in cash. Need to buy new radiator and clutch also. Need some advice on what to do.

 

moved to N/A section. I would replace the engine, you can get a trans and engine for like 300-400 bucks. you can get a stock radiator from a junkyard.

Basic rebuilt kit with timing kit and oil pump = $500 (if you do it yourself)

KA with half the miles that runs = 300-400.

Although if you rebuild you'll know it's done right (if you did it right), buying a used engine can sometimes be trouble.

Called around found KA from $400 to 600. I live in a house no garage it's winter cold out even if I'm in Georgia it still sucks working outside. Also got to do Clutch job. You are right $500 for a RE build kit on the head plus head work because I think they melted it down. Engine swap would be the cheapest.
