help me diagnose please

Hello, I'm a newbie to 240's. I have a 92 with 220K and love it. It just started to develop a problem and I thought someone out there may help me get an idea of what it may be, before I take it in to the shop.

The car runs fine as long as I am on the gas. If I relax and coast for a short period with reduced (not off) gas pedal pressure the car hesitates or misses. As soon as I blip the accelerator, the car surges, then resumes running normally.

Any clues would be helpful. I replaced the plugs and fuel filter when I purchased the car 10K ago.
Thanks in advance,
Triman

run a self diagnostic check off the ecu. It's pretty simple and it's free. See what the code is and you can tell what needs replacing.

possible timing, injector leak, mass airflow sensor, vacum leak,
1.use a timing light to check ur timing follow the proper method (race enigine unplug tps yada yada)
2.look at your injectors see if any gas is leaking out from behind them
3.unplg a spark plugs one by one to see if all four cyl.s are firing
4.listen for vaccum leaks, you might be able to find some by spraying carb cleaner in the area but DONT GO CRAZY it is flammable =)
5. check your fuel filter
6. idle air control valve on back of intake mani.
7. and check your FPR see if is is working properly (check to see if you have fuel preesure at idle)
