Belts wear over time, and they usually squel when either they are warn down, or they are on to tight or to loose.

As for valves, have no clue

How do you know your valves need adjusting?
What symptoms are there?

I say this because it isnt something an "amature" can do.

...had a convo about this the last meet... DOHC's valves can't be adjusted - they have to be reshimmed or something like that... only the SOHC can be adjusted because they're mechanical, whereas the twincams are hydraulic.

If you need a copy of the Factory FSM, search around the forum (it's here) or go to the "Galley" section of www.tougepirates.com and you can DL it there for free as well (shameless plug!)

That would be adjusting them

You have it backwards. The SOHC's are non-adj because of the hyd lash adj.
The DOHC's are adj by using shims.
here are a few pics I snapped of a SOHC i'm about to rebuild.
Notice the valve how it goes" up inside" the rocker arm. Well in that rocker arm is the hyd lash adj.
The DOHC are adj by using shims.

Kinda crappy pics. But shows what it needs to.
