What do these codes mean?

Hello, I pulled out the ecu to find out why the check engine light came on. I got a few codes, but was only able to make one out. The rest I dont know what they mean so I come to you guys for help.

This is what I got...

Bliiiiink Bliiiiink --- Blink Blink Blink = 23 Idle switch

Blink Blink Blink Blink = 4?
Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink = 5?
Bliiiiink = 1?

23 I understand and maybe thats why it idles at about 1300rpm after being warmed up. Not too sure but any help on 23 and if thats related to the idle being kinda high would be great.

The fast 4, 5 and then a long 1 I cant figure out. Can someone please help me out on the last 3 codes and how to look into fixing them?

Thanks a lot.

I didnt see both the red and green LEDs flash. I will attempt a second time today.

But selecting wether wich mode you are one (mode 1, mode 2, mode 3 etc.) confuses me.

Thanks for your reply Project Cheap13. I was beginning to think it may best to pay someone figure it out since I wasnt getting any input here. Thanks again.

Checked the codes again today. This time, I did notice both red and green leds light up simultaniously. Both were in sync with the check engine light and got the same codes. All of the lights check engine light, red led and green led showed code 23, 4 fast blinks, 5 fast blinks and 1 long blink. 23 is the Idle switch, but I still dont know what the last three mean. Can someone please help out.

Also, I erased all the codes and started up the car. The car ran fine for about 5 min then the check engine light came on again. Same codes all over: 23,4,5,1. No revving, no accesories, nothing was on during the 5 min that the light came on.

Just bought this car and needs to be smogged and registered. Registration was due in August. I cant get it smogged unless I fix the check engine problem. Again, someone please help.

OK.
Mode 1 is Mixture ratio feedback control monitor A
Mode 2 is Mixture ratio feedback control monitor B
Mode 3 is Self diagnosis
Mode 4 is Switches on/off diagnosis ( speed sensor, TV switch, ect...)
Mode 5 is Real time diagnosis ( will flash codes while driving)

The one you need( if you dont know) is Mode 3.
The way to do it properly( if you dont know & for future reference)
is
Step 1. Turn ignition key to the on position
Step 2. Turn the mode selector fully CLOCKWISE.
It will flash( in a row) once, then twice, then 3 times.
Step3. AS SOON as it flashes 3 in a row. IMMEDIATELY turn the screw fully COUNTERCLOCKWISE.
Step 4. The codes will flash. Red meaning 10 & green meaning 1( like I explained earlier).

Let us know the results.

Thanks again Project Cheap13. That makes a whole lot more sense to me know. I will try that sequence now and see what the outcome is.

OK, I just did what you told me:

Turned Ignition Key on
Turn ECU screw clockwise
Wait for all the codes flash 3 times and turn ECU screw counter-clockwise right away.

Did it twice to be sure and once I turned the screw back, both green and red led's stay on.

-Anything else Im leaving out?
-Would the last three determine which mode I am supposed to look at for more info?
-How do the three digit trouble codes show up? i.e. 126, 127 etc.

Thanks again.

Well, somehow I managed to get the red and green leds light up independently and gave me different codes. This time they showed 32 EGR malfunction and 41 - Intake Air temperature sensor.

32 I'll have to do some homework on. But 41 may be due to a broken hose coming out of the intake filter box.

Now Im not sure if these codes are accurate or what mode I was in. But these codes showed up with the engine running when I was actually trying to erase the ecu.

Going a few minutes back before the above, I was able to clear the ecu and no engine light showed up. However, the check engine light would come on when the accelerator/throttle position increased. Then when I would let off the pedal, the engine would go off.

Thanks again. Still confused.......if not more .
