I need an oil pressure guage in my S14 cause a dummy light just isn't gonna fly. I've read threads about a sandwich plate or a elec. sending unit. Can someone tell me how to install an oil pressure gauge in my S14? And is there a stock pressure sender that i can just wire into? Thanks in advance.

yeah i would like to know more information about this subject as well the only thing i do know is that on my s13 it has an oil pressure switch that does go bad and will cause and oil leak thanks for any info...........

Well You can buy a Sandwich block and use the exsisting potr they have for the oil line (Mechanical) or sensor for electrical, or if your guage comes with all the parts neede you can just use the oil pressure switch right by the oil filter once just make sure that the line (mechanical) or sensor (electrical) have the proper threads before you attemp it. Ok here is the switch next to the filter, I honestly think the best way to do it is get an oil Filter Relocation kit and tap the oil pressure/Temp reading from there, But if you don't have the means the second best is to get the Sandwich with the sensor ports on it and screw it onto the oil Filter STOCK thread port and then screw the filter onto it and you have at least two points there you can get Pressure and Temp From.

is this for mechanical or electrical? i did some reading meanwhile. read a whole mess of crap about nstp/bstp threads, t fittings, stock sending unit and the aftermarket sending unit.

Mechanical would be better suited for the sandwhich but can be put into the Stock pressure switch with an adaptor. Like I said the oil filter relocation kit would be the best bang for the buck and would untimately help you out in the long run. Remeber the pressure switch is giving the reading to the stock oil pressure guage (if the car has an actual guage) other wise it is the cool little alladins lamp warning.

sorry i must be slow today. so no chance on an electrical unit then? from what ive read, the oil lines need to be routed into the cabin. not too fond of that idea ><

edit: im dealing with an s13 ka24de, we dont have an oil gauge. but we do have an oil pressure switch.

Oh no I think the Electrical is the best perferably(For me) the Defi )that way the sensor can stay under the hood and the line run into the car. I hate mechanical. I would get any of the electrical,

I was jsut saying if you got stuck with using mechanical use the sandwhich.

Yeah, I got the S14 KA24DE and I have alladin's lamp. I havent looked for the stock oil pressure switch yet, should it be there? Cause I defietly want to do the electric. dont think i want hot oil in the cabin with me.

let me take an excerpt from the KA service manual for that I am sorry I just naturally think SR since I am in japan, But I see no reason it should be that different. Same concept

i have one in my car....its electrical, by Stewart Warner.....all i did was take out the stock sending unit, get a "T" adapter that allows me to screw in both sending units, and it works just fine...have a dummy light and a gauge now.....here is an example of the "T" you would need:

is the stock sending unit connected to the ecu? i was thinking about just using the aftermarket gauge by itself. but if the computer freaks out then ill get the tee fitting
