How Screwed am I?
So yesterday I was taking my de engine out of my totaled 96 body...
I was removing the last of the nuts on the header... and the bolt that sticks out of the engine... Snapped.
Can a machine shop help me out pretty easily??

once you get the motor out of the car... take off the exhaust manafold and look to see if there is still some of it sticking out of the head... if it is then things are not as bad as you might think... you can go to the parts store and get a stud extractor... or try using a pair of vicegrips... if you are not able to get it out then a machine shop will be able to get it for you...

another way is find a drill bit that is a little smaller than the stud
(be very careful when doing this) drill the center just enough to get a back out bit in it (can get bit from tap and dye set) and drill it out. a backout bit looks like a drill bit but it drills in reverse.( if you didnt know this)

using an easy out - screw/bolt extractor should be a last resort... if there is no part od the bolt sticking out then yeah use an easy out... but like i was saying if there is a part of the bolt that you can get ahold of then there are other tools that can be used...
using the easy out is not the hard part... drilling the hole thru the bolt is the pain in the ***... you want the hole as close to the center as possible and start with a small drill bit and go up in size until you eather come close to hittinf the threads or have a big enough hole for your easy out to go in there...turn the eazy out slow... as it will still break... and that makes life harder when the time comes to have someone else remove the bolt...
